But Bob O’Donnell, module clamp president, Clients and Displays during IDC, doesn’t buy into a Post-PC premise.

Not so, Steve: “With all due honour to Mr. Jobs, we’re not in a Post-PC era. We’re in what we call a PC-plus era. People owning PCs and other devices,” he told CNET progressing in a week.

There are some things we usually can’t do on a tablet, pronounced O’Donnell. “Physical keyboards are indeed unequivocally important,” he said.

And high-end applications that need a lot of discriminate horsepower are still really popular, he said.

“Tablets will occupy a singular place. PCs will occupy a singular place. But some-more and some-more with a ability to work together.”

Rather, they’re complementary: O’Donnell continued. “One instance is Adobe and their hold apps. They are designed privately for tablets. They’re not meant to be a deputy for Adobe’s desktop apps, they’re meant to be complementary.”

Those inscription apps are used to blueprint out a simple idea, and afterwards that’s eliminated to Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop for a heavy-duty editing, he said.

“You finish your work with a some-more absolute PC and a some-more accurate device–which is a mouse. So, [Adobe] is an instance of leveraging a device for what it’s good for; afterwards regulating it in and with a PC.”

And that workflow will go a other way, too, with tasks finished on a PC and changed over to a tablet, he said. “I consider we’ll see a lot some-more of interrelated applications opposite PCs and tablets.”

Does any of this matter to consumers ideally happy with usually a laptop or those in need of zero beyond, let’s say, a smartphone and an iPad? Probably not.

But it does matter to companies–like Apple, HP, Amazon, Samsung, and Motorola–who pattern inclination for consumers. And it does have an impact on a figure those inclination eventually take.
